Gross Vehicle Mass is the maximum your truck is legally allowed to weigh when fully loaded, including passengers, fuel, accessories and everything in the tray or canopy. A standard 79 Series sits around 3,300 kg GVM depending on the variant and model year. It matters because running over that figure affects braking and handling, can void your insurance in a crash, and leaves you offside at a weighbridge. GVM is a legal limit, not a guideline. 

Add it up: a steel bull bar, winch, dual battery, drawers, a canopy or service body, a long-range tank, water, recovery gear, tools and passengers. Individually each seems small, but together they can put a 79 at or over its standard GVM before you've packed for a trip.
