Fulcrum Sponsored Driver Stephen Faulks Time Attack Preview

The Fulcrum Performance STi suffered an engine failure late last year competing in the Queensland Time Attack series at Lakeside Park. Back then it was a very standard car, with standard internals and a bolt on twin scroll turbo making a nice 200kw atw. Stephen still managed to win the AWD Street Class in 2009 and defended his title in 2010 but took a back seat in 2011 Time Attack series as work got in the way of racing; but you cannot have one without the other.

Stephen attributed his cars speed and ability to keep up with cars with a lot more horse power down to the work that Fulcrum Performance had done on the car. So it was a logical step after the rebuild started to approach Graham at Fulcrum and go all the way.

The rebuild started the same as any normal one – with a small budget and modest ideas, but soon became clear that the car was going to be a completely different weapon. Stephen selected Nick from NA Autosports in Brisbane to put the heart back together, basing it on a built 2.5l block out of the well respected Possum Borne Motorsport factory in New Zealand. Nick mated this with some heavily worked heads, a Cosworth intake and plenty of other goodies.

While the engine work was underway, NA Autosport also  removed the old bolt-in cage and fitted a custom NA cage and modified the body to sit over 18x10’s wearing a minimum of 275’s

Once back together, the car will visit Fulcrum Performance and Graham will use his years of experience to complete the final touches in the package and get all things handling related perfect.

Stephen has never run at Eastern Creek, but is looking forward to the challenge and expects to put in a good showing for Fulcrum Performance and NA Autosport in the Club Sprint class.
