Power fold towing mirrors combine extended rearward visibility for towing with the convenience of electrically operated folding. Designed to replace the original side mirrors, they can extend outwards when towing a caravan, trailer or other wide load and return to a more compact position for everyday driving.

The power fold function allows compatible towing mirrors to fold towards the vehicle electrically, making it easier to reduce the mirror's overall width when parking or manoeuvring through tighter spaces.

Available functions vary between applications, so choosing the right power fold towing mirrors means considering vehicle fitment, existing mirror features and your towing requirements.

What Are Power Fold Towing Mirrors?

Power fold towing mirrors are replacement side mirrors that combine an extendable towing position with electrically operated folding.

The extension function moves the mirror further away from the side of the vehicle when additional towing visibility is required. When you are no longer towing, the mirror can be retracted closer to its normal driving position.

Power folding performs a different function. It allows the mirror housing to fold electrically towards the vehicle rather than requiring the housing to be folded manually.

Together, these functions provide the extra visibility needed for towing while retaining convenient operation for everyday driving.

Better Visibility When Towing

Towing a caravan, trailer or other wide load can restrict the view available through standard side mirrors.

Extendable towing mirrors help increase the viewing area by moving the mirrors further out from the vehicle. This can provide a clearer view alongside and behind the load you are towing.

When additional visibility is required, the mirrors can be extended into their towing position. Once towing is finished, they can be retracted for normal driving.

The viewing angle can also be adjusted to suit the driver and towing setup. Mirror position should be checked before travelling, particularly when changing trailers or towing loads with different dimensions.

Power Fold vs Non-Power Fold Towing Mirrors

Both power fold and non-power fold towing mirrors are designed to provide additional rearward visibility when towing. The main difference is how the mirror housing folds.

Power fold towing mirrors use an electric mechanism to fold the mirror housing towards the vehicle. Non-power fold models require this folding movement to be performed manually where the design allows.

This difference is separate from the towing extension function. Both types can extend outwards to provide a wider viewing position when towing and retract for everyday driving.

Power folding can be particularly convenient when parking, entering garages or navigating tighter spaces where reducing the width of the mirrors is useful.

Which option is appropriate depends on your vehicle's original mirror configuration and the functionality you want to retain.

Matching Your Existing Mirror Functions

Power fold towing mirrors are vehicle-specific, and available functions differ across the range.

Depending on the individual application, replacement towing mirrors may support features such as electric adjustment, heating, integrated indicators, blind-spot monitoring, memory, puddle lights or camera provision.

These features are not available on every power fold towing mirror.

When selecting replacement mirrors, compare the specifications with the functions fitted to your existing mirrors. This helps identify the correct configuration and avoids assuming that a particular feature is included simply because the mirror has power-fold capability.

Always check the individual product specifications and vehicle compatibility before purchasing.

Choosing the Right Power Fold Towing Mirrors

Start with vehicle fitment. Towing mirrors are designed for specific applications, so confirming compatibility is essential before comparing other features.

Next, consider your existing mirror functions. If your current mirrors include electrical or safety-related features that you want to retain, look for a compatible towing mirror configuration that supports those functions.

Your towing requirements are another consideration. If you regularly tow a caravan, trailer or other load that extends beyond the width of the vehicle, extendable towing mirrors can provide the additional rearward visibility required while travelling.

Finish can also form part of your decision. Power fold towing mirrors are available in different finishes across the range, allowing you to select an option that suits your vehicle once the correct fitment and functionality have been established.

Power Fold Towing Mirrors for Everyday Driving

Power fold towing mirrors are designed to remain fitted even when the vehicle is not towing.

When additional towing visibility is no longer required, the mirrors can be retracted towards their normal driving position. The power-fold function can then be used when you want to bring the mirror housings closer to the vehicle.

This provides a permanent alternative to temporary towing mirror extensions that need to be fitted and removed each time you tow.

Regularly check the mirrors and mounting points and make sure the extension, retraction, electrical adjustment and power-fold functions continue to operate correctly.
