Why the range is so wide

Four things move the number.

How much has to come apart: Some platforms take a straightforward spacer and longer fastener arrangement at existing mounting points. Others need the crossmember unloaded and the diff supported while brackets are swapped, which is a longer job. That difference is most of the gap between a $604 fitted price and a $1,199 one.

What is in the kit: A simple puck or spacer kit is fewer parts than a bracket and crossmember kit designed to relocate the diff and keep its mounting integrity intact. More engineering in the kit means more in the price.

Whether anything else has to move: On some vehicles the drive shaft, sway bar link or a skid plate has to be adjusted or repositioned to suit the new diff height. Any of those steps adds labour to the job.

Whether the front end is already apart: This is the one you control. Fitted at the same time as your lift, almost all the labour is already being paid for. Booked separately, you pay to strip the same front end twice.

The third row is the expensive one, and it is the one people end up in when they treat the kit as optional. The comparison that matters is not the kit price against zero. It is the kit price against a pair of front CV assemblies on a ute you have already spent money lifting.

What is and is not included in the fitted price

The fitted price covers the kit and its professional installation at a Click and Fit location. It does not include a wheel alignment, and a 2 inch lift needs one regardless of whether you add the diff drop, so budget for that separately. It also does not include any other correction parts your build may need, such as upper control arms for caster.

If you are pricing a whole lift build, get the lift, the diff drop, any control arms and the alignment quoted together. One visit is cheaper than three and you get a single alignment at the end.

Why is one kit $140 and another $590?

Kit content and installation complexity. A spacer style kit using existing mounting points is far simpler than a bracket and crossmember kit that relocates the differential, and the labour to fit each differs accordingly.

Is it cheaper to fit a diff drop with the lift?

Yes, clearly. The front end is already apart during a lift install, so you pay for the part and a small amount of extra labour rather than a second full strip down.

Does the fitted price include a wheel alignment?

No. A 2 inch lift needs an alignment whether or not you fit a diff drop, so quote that separately as part of the build.
